Hi, I’m Amirah! I’m a senior double majoring in Economics and Journalism, with a concentration in Italian. I’m a New Yorker at heart, lover of music and second year consultant at the Writing Place. So far, I’ve had the pleasure of helping students and faculty, alike bring their wildest ideas to the page. I enjoy helping people in their writing journey, no matter the habit or issue.
Beyond the Evanston campus, I assist with two amazing projects at the Writing Place. I work closely with the Northwestern Prison Education Program to provide our incarcerated, degree-seeking peers at Stateville and Logan with advising and writing consulting services. This ensures that they have equitable access to the same services as Evanston and Chicago campus students. In addition, through our new partnership with Lumi, I provide college peer advising for underserved teens in Chicago Public Schools. This is to help bridge the gap in access to college-readiness and prep services.
