Hi! My name is Isabell Liu, and I’m currently a fourth year in WCAS majoring in Asian American studies with a minor in creative writing. I’m originally from Rancho Cucamonga, California, so you can imagine my chagrin when I was introduced to Evanstonian winter (and snow!). I grew up devouring pretty much any YA series I could get my hands on, a tendency that has logically transformed into my love for readings and writing Asian American literature. But growing up with ELL parents and my grounding in ethnic studies has taught me that language should be a tool that we use to communicate, rather than a tool for others to measure our ability to community. I’m excited to meet and work with students across disciplines and language backgrounds at the Writing Place, and help in any way that I can.
