FELLOW – AGAM BALOONI

Agam Balooni (he/him) is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at Northwestern. He specializes in gothic literature of the long nineteenth century, with research and teaching interests in genre theory, comparative empire, race, and caste studies, and the environmental humanities. His dissertation project “India Gothic” pays attention to the located texture of postcolonial gothics, uncovering a comparative history of the gothic genre in the backdrop of the rise and fall of the British Raj in India (1857–1947) and beyond. Agam is also a poet and remains painstakingly curious about the insightful corners and edges to which language use brings writers and readers. As part of the Graduate Writing Place, he is excited to continue that work with folks who are themselves actively engaged with their own creative and academic writing.
