I’m Ben Weissman, a Musicology PhD candidate in the Music Department. My dissertation focuses on practitioners of musical experimentalism in 1970s California, their pursuit of musical novelty and earnest study of New Age thought in the Cold War era, and the influence of philanthropic funding organizations on their music.
I love editing, advising, and helping students develop their ideas. Through my experiences in writing groups, teaching courses, and advising students as a graduate assistant at the Office of Fellowships, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students from a wide range of disciplines. I enjoy helping others make their writing accessible, clear, and exciting, and I look forward to doing so as a Writing Place Fellow!
