I’m Benjamin Zender, a Performance Studies Ph.D. candidate working with minoritarian archivists and museum makers. I recognize that writing can become a solitary and scary act, especially when we’re caught up in feelings of perfectionism while navigating the demands of our programs and careers. I work with writers to develop a more process-based understanding of your work. Together we recognize that writing is a durational process that benefits from multiple rounds of brainstorming and revisions, all with the help of a larger writing community that includes the Graduate Writing Place. Some of my favorite work at the GWP is participating in ongoing interdisciplinary writing groups, where writers from diverse departments gather regularly to provide feedback and accountability in a low-stakes, supportive environment.
