I’m Morgan Patrick (he/him), a 6 th year PhD student in the Music Theory and Cognition program. My research focuses on how the mind makes sense of repetition, similarity, and change as people are listening to music. This, in turn, has implications for how music listening resembles comprehension in other domains, such as language and visual narrative. Like music, good writing has a clear narrative structure and a persuasive, audience-focused coherence. I take a personalized approach to writing consultation that helps build these elements no matter the stage of the project. While I have experience with a variety of writing styles and objectives, I especially enjoy helping others toggle between science and humanities-oriented communication.
