I’m Skye Strauss, a candidate in the Interdisciplinary PhD in Theatre and Drama. I started coming to the Graduate Writing Place while I was balancing the transition from research to writing in my dissertation with fellowship and assistantship applications. Consultations and writing groups have been instrumental to my success. As I have moved from participant to facilitator, my writing group has continually helped me refine my argument and find my voice. At the Writing Place, I am able to take what I’ve learned along the way and use it to help others. I know I am becoming a better teacher who can encourage my students to find their way to a truly great piece of writing through the same kind of informed conversation and patient iteration that have become part of my own process.
